| I'm back from UT. Orientation was pretty cool. It's nice to know what classes I'll be taking this fall: 2 CompSci classes (3 hours each/1 hour discussion each) 1 Calc class (4 hours [this class is actually 5 hours for 4 hours of credit]) 1 Business class (3 hours) 1 Freshman Seminar (easy writing class) (3 hours) 1 Jazz Combo (1 hour)
Which totals 17 credit hours.
I actually bought legal versions of Office and FrontPage from the computer store on campus, which features mainly Macs. I felt kind of bad for not saying anything to a woman who was buying a Mac and obviously had no idea what a computer is. I pity the fools who buy Macs for personal use.
No, I still haven't worn burnt orange yet.
On an unrelated note, I finally bought my new computer, an HP.

| Life is boring now that APs are over. The only thing I have left is the CompSci end of year project, which may be done soon if a battle system isn't too hard to implement. I <3 ImageIcons.
I need ot start looking into buying a new computer. I'm probably going to go with a desktop, but laptops are looking better and better.

| The band trip was ok for the most part. If someone hadn't left, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more. Also, let it be known, I do not enjoy watching baseball.

| CMU was cool. It looks and feels a lot like Rice but people at CMU actually relax. We (my father, Garrett, and I) arrived on campus around 8. We sat in on some information session and then proceeded for a tour at 8:30. The campus is close-knit. On the tour, we passed the infamous CMU fence, which had 2 excited frat guys sitting on it. The fence has quite a tradition to it. Basically, anyone can paint on it (in fact, the last fence, put up in the 1920s, collapsed under all the paint on it), but you must paint it between midnight and 6am. As long as 2 people from the same group which painted it remain on the gravel in front of the fence, no one can paint it. So, those 2 frat people were camping out by the fence all week to prevent other people from paint it. On the tour, we also went into the Humanities building, which has a sloping floor and is said it could have been by Carnegie as a steel factory with a gravity-aided assembly line. After the tour, I went over to the CompSci building, which had a Roboceptionist (a robotic receptionist), who can interact with you and give you directions to where you need to go (and has a social life). The CompSci program seems to be very good. After their information session, I took a tour of the building there. After this, I went to lunch with one of the CMU students there (yes, a free lunch). From there, I listened on a class there, but left after 15 minutes, since what the prof was teaching was pretty basic (classes and objects). After that, we went on the "Underground" tour, which does not go underground. It basically gives a further incite into the CMU traditions. After this, we headed over to an informal dinner on Entrepreneurship, which we got to meet some of the Entrepreneurship students at the university and hear some of the projects they are involved in.
Overall, I like the university. It has some really good programs and aspects to it, but I'm not quite sure I would choose it over UT.
Pittsburgh is a cool city. We walked inside a building there called the "Cathedral of Learning," the second tallest university building (owned by the University of Pittsburgh). UPitt is in the middle of downtown. It quite humorous that classes are basically held right next to bars, clubs, and stores.

| Ladies and Gentlemen, the party is now over. Now, get out.
So my last college decision came in. As it stands, finished: MIT - Rejected CalTech - Rejected
Carnegie-Mellon - Math-Accepted; CompSci - Waitlisted John Hopkins - Accepted GeorgiaTech - Accepted WashU (in Seattle) - Accepted UT+honors - Accepted A&M - Accepted Illinois Institute of Technology - Accpeted FloridaTech - Accepted Colorado School of Mines - Accepted
I've narrowed it down to 2: UT or Carnegie-Mellon. Depending on my chances of transferring into Carnegie's CompSci program, I may choose UT so I am guarenteed entry into the CompSci program. However, if Carnegie give me financial aid, then I wont be going there.
